Barkey
Terms
Barkey is a dictation keyboard for iOS. Review the text it produces before you send or rely on it.
Using the app
You are responsible for what you record and where you use the resulting text. Get permission where recording requires it, and follow the rules that apply to you and the apps you use.
Transcription has limits
Speech recognition can miss words, add words or change punctuation. Results depend on the model, language, audio and device. Do not rely on a transcript as an exact record without checking it against the recording.
Device and system behavior
Barkey requires iOS 18 or later, microphone permission, keyboard setup and downloaded model files. iOS controls keyboard availability, background operation and Live Activities. Calls, audio route changes, force quitting or system termination can interrupt a session. Keep another copy of anything you cannot afford to lose.
Availability and distribution
Features and availability can change as the app develops. This website does not promise an App Store release date, a price, uninterrupted operation or a particular transcription result. Any terms shown by Apple during app distribution also apply to that distribution.
Models and other software
The app includes software and speech models with their own licenses. Attribution and license notices are available in the app. Those components remain subject to their respective licenses.
Privacy
See the privacy page for local storage, model downloads and the separate handling of website requests.
